'A Quiet Moment'

This was painted during the days of creating the ‘Prelude Collection.’ During these times, Katie had her studio set up with various still life compositions in every corner and spent her evenings studying light while practicing painting them. When her friends would come visit, they couldn’t help but become paintings themselves within these beautiful designs and often would read or play music while Katie painted them. 

The objects in Katie’s still designs are heirlooms from her family, like her Grandmother’s vase she remembers Jaquetta displaying lilac blooms in she cut from their tree every spring. Other objects includes treasures Katie found in her travels. Can you find the statues of Gabriel and Eros? Did you notice her great grandmother’s violin and sheet music resting on the stand in the corner? This painting is a delightful treasure hunt! May it bring you many quiet moments of joyful wonder.
