Created in celebration of Beethoven and Schumann for the musical series, Music Speaks performed at Merkin Hall in NYC. Violinist, Geneva Lewis and pianist, Audrey Vardanega curate an exquisite evening with their program, ‘Emotional Landscapes.’ This painting is inspired by the pastoral pieces of Beethoven and Schumann and serves to capture a quiet moment as a young composer walks down an early fall path. Marked by falling colorful notes, he strolls beside the ancient oaks, completely immersed in the grandeur and expansiveness of it all. Nature’s true wisdom.

Emotional Landscapes
Violinist Geneva Lewis, pianist Audrey Vardanega and painter Katie Swatland join forces to create an immersive audiovisual experience of two of the great masterpieces of the sonata repertoire: L.V. Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 10 and R. Schumann’s Violin Sonata No. 2. Through the lens of Katie’s evocative landscape paintings, the music truly comes to life, allowing the audience to experience the nexus of gesture, color and performance.
